San Francisco Wedding Photographers

So, you need a photographer for your wedding. How hard could it be to find one that you will be pleased with? Surely, you can just get on the internet and do a quick search and pick the first or second one that pops up right? Wrong, this is probably the most important decision that you will make in terms of your wedding plans. Don't take it for granted or lightly. There is quite a bit of footwork that has to take place in order to locate and hire the wedding photographer that will be a match for what you need and want. One one hand, you have something in your favor in that you are searching the San Francisco area where there are hundreds of competent and talented wedding photographers. On the other hand, this can create a bit more work for you in your search because there are more candidates to consider. And keep in mind that anyone can say they are a professional photographer. That doesn't mean they are. So it will be up to you to weed through the thick grass in order to pluck up that rose so to speak. We would like to help as much as we can so we have provided a short guide to get you started on your quest to find the perfect wedding photographer for your special day.

Try to get a running list of potential wedding photographers going. Your best bet is to start talking to your inner circle. Sometimes friends, family, and coworkers have just been to or had a wedding themselves and they may have first hand knowledge of someone that was very good. If not, they may know someone that raves about a particular photographer and you can get their contact information. When you have a few names on your list, look them up online and check out their wedding portfolio. If there are any candidates that just don't seem to mesh with your style, cross them off of your list. The ones that you take a liking to will be candidates that you want to setup a face to face interview with.

When you sit down with each potential wedding photographer, have a talk about their work history. How many weddings have they done in the past 6 months? Make sure they are not a newbie. What kind of style do they have? Have them show you their style through their wedding books. Pay close attention to this evidence so that you can make a note of whether they match your vision. Call a number of references and ask about how things went at their wedding. See Pro Wedding Photos for more options.

Ask them about how they operate on a wedding day? Do they work off of a standard shot list? How much say can you have in terms of the shot list? What if they are sick on your wedding day? Will they work with a second shooter if you so desire? Take a close look at all of the wedding packages they show you. Make sure that the number of shooting hours covers what you will need. If there is something that you need or want and you don't see it listed, ask about it. Also, make sure you talk about post-production work. How much retouch work will they do? When you find that perfect candidate that you connect with, ask them for a written contract. Once you are satisfied with the language in the contract, sign on the dotted line and enjoy your special day. At least you know now that all of your special moments will be preserved for posterity.
